Finished the second sleeve on the plane, except for the bind off. My larger needles were in the overhead compartment. Finished the bind off sitting in Starbucks in the Intercontenental on Michigan Avenue. The sweater was a huge hit, and I even had a request to make one. I'll try to get pictures up later.

Life gets in the way

I cranked out several lace repeats a couple of days ago, but other than that, not much progress on my sweater. Life just gets in the way. Got my car back from the shop only to have the brakes go out before I got it home. More stress, more money. I am cursed with cars that do not function properly. Supposed to leave tomorrow for a business trip, but I just can't wrap my brain around it.

As far as I can tell, it actually is going to fit when I am done. For my first me sized sweater, that's pretty good.

Today should be the day I discover if the sweater will fit or not. Almost to the point I can try it on. Was so glad I could help at sit and knit on Monday night. It was really cool to be able to give back to the shop that has given so much to me. I just love Charlotte's Fibers.

The finished project was fabulous! I don't know if I will ever do another black tote again though. I have so many headaches from that one project. My step-mom loved it, so I guess it was worth it.

Almost done with my second felted tote after it laid snoozing away for several months. Black is just so hard to work with. Oh well, almost ready to felt. Will try to post pix later.

I had intended for this blog to be about my knitting journey. Then Ravelry came along. More of my journey is recorded there.

Over the last year, knitting has been a lifeline of sorts. When everything else is crazy, I can sit and knit and forget. Kids being kids, knit. Husband being husband, knit. Work being work, knit. Somehow from those first hesitant stitches, I have stumbled across a new way of life. A way to put some focus in my crazy life.

I will be forever grateful to Charlotte and Astrid for leading me into this. . . well it's too important to call it a hobby. Let's call it a lifestyle.

To all those who knit . . .I salute you!

I can't believe that I won something. I NEVER, NEVER win anything. I am doing the romantic comedy tv yarn sock club. I won this great yarn for posting on the tvyarn sock club blog. I looooove the yarn that will be coming my way. I am itching to start some new socks. Now, which will I do first, my tvyarn that is still a mystery, or the yarn I won????????? I can't decide. All I know is that I will be doing some serious sock knitting as soon as the package gets here!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the long delay. I have been spending way too much time in Ravelry. My user name is davis2118.

Been working on several Christmas gifts. Hat after hat after hat. Multi-directional scarf. Regular scarf. Everlasting bagstopper. A couple of gelato bags. A felted tote from fiber trends.

The best thing about learning to knit is that my stress level is down. My blood pressure is down too and I was able to come off my meds.

I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I finish some more projects.

Gelato Bag done!!

I finished the amazing gelato bag late last night. I'll felt it in the next couple of days. It's damp and rainy, so I want to wait for a less humid day. I used this 100% merino wool that was hand-dyed in a lovely mix of blues. I can't wait to finish it.

I bought more yarn today to complete these for my girls as well. They were jealous of mine and want bags of their own. I didn't buy merino wool, but I did get Cascade 220. I have felted with the 220 before and it works really well.

Still working on socks for me. I have finished socks for the baby gift I am making, one in each size. I am going to go with the smaller size, the other just looks way too big for a newborn. If I have enough yarn left over, I'll make a second in the larger size as well.

I learned to entrelac this weekend as well. It's not too bad to learn, just follow the pattern and it all comes out in the end.

My knitting journey so far

I decided about 6 months ago to learn to knit. I am fairly crafty and decided I need a new challenge. I have a stressful job and crazy homelife, so I needed to destress. After trying to learn from the instructions I downloaded, I discovered my LYS - Charlotte's Fibers. Charlotte and Astrid have been wonderful and very helpful. So far I have knit several scarves, a bag, an MP3 player holder, eyeglass cases, and a couple of dishclothes. I will try to post pictures later.

I have also made several hats. I am making a baby hat for a friend's shower. This is the first hat that I have started on DPs. All of the other hats have started on addi turbos. Circular needles are easier to work with than DPs, but I am enjoying the challenge.
